One of my favourite things is dining outside and when you get a chance to host a get-together to celebrate the marriage of your niece – even better. My daughter even commented that clearly my next career is event planning! From a tuned-in, style-savvy 17-year-old, I’ll take that as a compliment.
This dinner party was a success for so many reasons: my amazing co-hosts who went above and beyond with the delicious food, the glorious weather, but most of all because of the awesome women who came together at the table who I am lucky enough to call family.
So for all of your al fresco hosting adventures, I hope this soirée, with all of its summertime blooms and backyard entertaining ideas, inspires.

Flower Arranging Hack
My go-to flower arranging tip involves good ol’ Scotch Tape. Instead of a flower frog – an apparatus used by florists to hold flower stems in place in a vase – I use tape. Span the mouth of your vase with an open grid of tape, attaching each side but then squeeze together the lengthwise spans. If you don’t do this, your tape can be a little too sticky and make it tough to move your blooms around as you build your arrangement. Create your faux frog before adding the flowers and lastly the water. Works like a charm especially if you have a short vase which requires extra security to keep flowers and foliage in place.
