The end of the year is fast approaching and for many of us, we’re happy to kiss this one goodbye. What better way than with a stylish Champagne cocktail – or three. Here is a trio my favourite sparkling wine cocktails to serve whenever you want an occasion to sparkle.
The Champagne Cocktail
This is the classic recipe. To make: Place a sugar cube in the bottom of a tall flute. Add a few drops of Angostura bitters and 1/3 oz. Cognac. Top with Champagne. (Or you can break with tradition and top with your favourite sparkling wine and be a rebel, albeit a very stylish rebel.)
French 75
For this elegant cocktail recipe, combine 1 oz gin and 1/2 oz fresh lemon juice in a champagne flute and top with Champagne or sparkling wine. Garnish with a lemon twist. So easy and delish! Cheers.
Mimosa
Fill a flute half-way with orange juice and top with sparkling wine – one-to-one ratio. Feel free to mix it up and reinterpret this cocktail method with any of your favourite fruit juices, or try a Bellini with sparkling wine added to peach purée.
