How to Make Mulled Wine: A Simple Recipe

How to make mulled wine: a simple recipe

Glogg, grog, warm sangria: Whatever you call it, I’m a fan of spiced wine or mulled wine. Not only does it taste delicious, but it makes the house smell divine!

Mulled wine is really an affordable wine cocktail that is perfectly suited to a tasty, albeit inexpensive red wine.

Here’s my recipe. It’s delicious and is easy to make. Enjoy!

Mulled Wine Recipe

Ingredients

1-750 mL bottle of fruity red wine (Merlot, Zinfandel, Garnacha are all good choices)
1 cup apple cider
1/2 cup brandy
1/3 cup maple syrup
2 oranges, clementines or tangerines, zested and sliced into wheels
1/3 cup cranberries (optional)
3 cinnamon sticks
2 cardamon pods
1 tsp whole cloves
1 star anise, whole

Method
Combine all ingredients in a pot and bring just to a boil before turning down to simmer on low heat for 10-15 minutes. Remove from heat, strain into heat-proof mugs or glasses, and garnish with additional cinnamon sticks and citrus wheels.
